Family Honeymoons

If you’re one of the many couples who will become an insta-family when your marriage brings your children from previous relationships into the mix, you might consider using your honeymoon as a bonding vacation for all of you. Bringing kids along on the honeymoon might seem like an odd notion if you've never heard of it before, but so many couples say it's a great way to start the marriage off on the right foot all the way around.

I have two kids from a previous marriage, and my fiancé has one child from his. We warned a lot about the kids accepting each other as step sisters and also the kids accepting both of us as a parental team. They've spent time together In the past, but we really think that spending a week together In Hawaii, having fun together, will help them bond further with one another and really make a statement that we are a complete family. We just didn't think it would be good the two of us went off together to the Islands and left the lads at home. - Terry and Pete

We took our kids on our honeymoon cruise and they had a great time together all day at the kids activity group while we spent some romantic quality time together on board, in the room, and on excursions. In the evening, we spent time together: as a family going to shows and movies. Eating dinner together and just hanging out and talking on deck. At the end of the week, my new husband's son asked if he could call me Mom. So that made the trip that much more special. - Bill and Cindy

Surely, honeymooning with the kids gives you plenty of bonding time for the kids and a fabulous entry to a new level of parenthood, in the most relaxing and enjoyable of environments. For many couples, this trip is the beginning of a beautiful future in more ways than one.

So where will you take this family trip of a lifetime: Where will you laugh together, play together, watch your kids grow closer to one Will it be a Club Med-type getaway with sand, surf, and sun: A week at the Disney resorts, where adults have just as much fun as the kids: A return to nature, where you'll camp under the stars and kayak down a river surrounded by majestic cliffs? A cruise to Alaska, where the kids will get perhaps their first wide-eyed glimpse of whales, bear, caribou, and bald eagles outside of captivity, in their natural, clean, and untouched environments? The choices are endless, as the travel industry provides a wealth of family-friendly getaways to please all individual tastes and budgets.
